Our research focuses on soybean molecular genetics. Primary interests include the genetic basis of natural and induced variation in soybean, and using genomic strategies for trait improvement.

It is a late maturity soybean (group 0, 0.8) with yellow leaves (chlorophyll deficient). It may be used as a ‘marker’ or border in research fields, breeding nurseries, or as an ornamental soybean. The U of M has released almost 60 varieties, the first in 1922. “Soybean Breeding and Genetics,” University of Minnesota, Agricultural Experiment Station project #13-027, principal investigator, Aaron Lorenz.
